How long can you freeze Homemade Ice Cream:

Homemade Ice Cream will last in the freezer up to 2 weeks when sealed properly. Use an airtight, freezer-safe container, and place plastic wrap over the top of the ice cream before sealing, this will prevent ice crystals from forming.

Can you use different candy bars?

This same method can be used with a variety of candy bars such as Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Snickers, or your favorite candy bars.

Tips for Making Homemade Butterfinger Ice Cream:

For the creamiest consistency use half and half or real cream to make this recipe. If you need additional cream to reach the FILL line on your ice cream maker, you can use 2% or whole milk. Nonfat milk will be more watery and not as creamy as you would expect from ice cream.

When the ice cream is made, it’s best to store in the freezer for 1-2 hours to harden before serving.

For serving, we dipped ice cream bowls in melted chocolate and added crushed Butterfinger Candy Bars to the rim of the bowls, these are fun for sundaes or parties!

Fun-Size Butterfinger Bars will work for this recipe or full-size. It works best to use a food processor to finely chop the Butterfingers. If you do not have a food processor, place the candy bars in a Ziploc bag and seal it. Use a rolling pin to crush the candy bars.

Butterfinger Ice Cream is the best way to enjoy time with family, it’s fun and easy to make plus it stays good in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. This is a staple throughout the year in our home and especially for family events and cookouts!
