- Sliced Mushrooms
- White Onion
- Salt
- Pepper
- Gluten-Free Dry Onion Soup Mix or Regular
- Beef Broth
- Gluten-Free Cream of Mushroom Soup or Regular
- Dijon Mustard
- Gluten-Free Frozen Meatballs or Regular
- Sour Cream
- Gluten-Free Egg Noodles or Regular
How do you make this recipe gluten-free?
There are a few minor swaps needed to make this recipe gluten-free. These will be easily done homemade or many can be purchased in the store as well.
- Dry Onion Soup Mix – Use either Homemade Dry Onion Soup Mix or a Gluten-Free Store-Bought Soup Mix.
- Gluten-Free Cream of Mushroom Soup
- Choose Gluten-Free Frozen Meatballs, we use Good & Gather Grassfed Beef Meatballs from Target, as of 2025 these are marked Gluten-Free, always check before purchasing as it can change at any time.
- Choose Gluten-Free Egg Noodles such as Amish Wedding Double Yolk Egg Noodles.
As always, be sure to check all ingredients in any store-bought choice as the ingredients can change without notice. If gluten-free is not a need, then proceed with the ingredients of your choice.
Tips for Making Slow Cooker Meatball Stroganoff:
- Sour cream at room temperature – Keep sour cream at room temperature to whisk into the final dish, this will allow it to easily combine with the warm broth and meatballs.
- Choose cooking time – If you prefer, you can cook this on HIGH For 3 hours and LOW for 4-5 hours, until the meatballs are heated through.
- Spice it Up – To make it spicy, add red pepper flakes.
- Best to serve with mashed potatoes or green beans.
How do you store leftovers?
Store the leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
When ready to reheat, place a portion of the stroganoff in an air fryer-safe bowl and heat at 300 degrees F for 5 minutes, or heat on a microwave-safe plate for 1-2 minutes in the microwave.
