Tips for Making Chicken Tortellini Soup Slow Cooker:
The tortellini will be added to this recipe in the last 15 minutes, so be sure to keep it refrigerated until you are ready to add it to the soup.
The chicken itself and other ingredients will be slow-cooked for 5 hours on LOW, once the chicken has reached an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees F, then it will be removed and shredded. The shredded chicken will be added back into the slow cooker along with the tortellini to finish off the cooking time.
It is best to have a meat thermometer on hand to get the correct internal temperature of the chicken.
Variations of Chicken Tortellini Soup:
- Make it Spicy – Add red chili flakes or hot sauce to the broth. The chicken can also be rubbed with chili powder or paprika.
- Make it Kid-Friendly – Serve with bacon bits and cheddar cheese.
- Make it Deluxe – Serve with sauteed mushrooms and bacon along with Parmigiano Cheese.
How to store leftover chicken tortellini soup?
Once the soup has completely cooled, place it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When ready to serve, pour into a microwave-safe bowl and heat covered for 2-3 minutes.
This soup does not freeze well, so it is not recommended to freeze the leftovers.
