Variations of Slow Cooker Chili Dogs:
- Make it Spicy – Add diced jalapenos, hot sauce, or red pepper flakes to the chili.
- Make it Cheesy – Add Colby Jack cheese into the slow cooker for the last 15 minutes to melt into the chili and hot dogs.
- Mix it Up – Instead of hot dog buns, serve it with Fritos as a Frito Chili Pie or serve over cooked fries for Chili Cheese Fries.
Tips for Making this Recipe:
Remember that this chili is not spicy at all, so if you do want additional spice added, be sure to add it in.
This chili is also made without beans, but you can add chili beans if you prefer.
When cooking the ground beef, be sure to use a meat chopper to finely chop the ground beef as it cooks. This way the meat is very fine when serving on top of the hot dogs.
The ground beef mixture and hot dogs will all be cooked together in the slow cooker, making it easy to grab a hot dog and top immediately with the chili and toppings of your choice.
How do you store leftovers?
Once the mixture has fully cooled, pour into an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
When ready to reheat, use a microwave-safe dish and reheat in the microwave for about 1 minute or until your preferred temperature.
Slow Cooker Chili Dogs are the ultimate comfort food, especially during the fall season. These are great while hosting a party to watch the latest football game or just to enjoy family time on the back patio!
