Make snack time better for you with this Black Bean Hummus!

As we gear up for back to school, one thing my kids love is tortilla chips with a great dip! I spotted this Black Bean Hummus over on Cooking Light and thought it sounded wonderful. I am not really the biggest fan of hummus, but I do love black beans and so do my kids. I thought this would be a great twist to a traditional hummus.

We paired it along side tortilla chips; however, you could also use it as a taco topping or on salads. It was really delicious!

Hummus has been one of my go-to snack items, it’s great paired with veggies too and it’s fun to do a little twist on the traditional style hummus. I just really love that it’s also easy to make your own.

My daughter was ready to devour it, my son was a bit of a skeptic but he still enjoyed it too. This is a great, filling snack idea for after school when the kids come home famished, but dinner is just around the corner. It’s just enough protein to hold them over until dinner time without snacking on ‘junk’ foods.

We have our orientation and meet the teacher nights tomorrow, then it’s time to set sail into this new school year. I’ll be stocking my fridge with Black Bean Hummus for a snack after school and for a snack for me during the day.
