FlatSafe Tornado Shelter

After living in Oklahoma for 30 years, this past spring my husband and I finally decided to purchase a Storm Shelter. We did SO much research on the different types available as far as the above ground safe room and then the underground shelters.

Ultimately, we ended up going with FlatSafe. FlatSafe offers an underground storm shelter that goes under the slab in the garage. We chose this one due to the lack of space we had available to put a safe room as well as the fact it’s underground. I felt better in terms of if the home is wiped off the foundation, we would still be safe underground.

We also happened to like that we can still park our car over it or the other various items that are stored in the garage. My son thinks it’s the best fort ever although we don’t go down there unless necessary.

It actually only takes about a day to install, the installers are great and they even clean up all the mess left behind too! They do not leave until you are absolutely satisfied.

The peace of mind that comes with purchasing a storm shelter was worth every penny for us. Being that we are in tornado alley most assume we all have storm shelters but really it is rare to find a home with a storm shelter or basement here in Oklahoma. Now, thankfully I have the peace of mind that we have a place to go if we are caught in a storm.
