Smoothies have become a go-to breakfast option in our household over the years, especially for my daughter and husband. They love them and are great to grab and go on the way out of the house in the mornings. They can easily be packed with protein and nutritious ingredients like fruits and vegetables and get you going throughout the entire day! These easy smoothie recipes will give you a variety of options to choose from so you don’t get in a boring smoothie rut.

Why you’ll love these easy smoothie recipes:
These recipes are quick to make, taking less than 5 minutes! They all use simple ingredients, are kid-approved, and are easy to customize to your needs. If you need dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free, no problem; there is a smoothie for you!
Plus, smoothies are easy to meal prep, which means you can freeze all the ingredients together for a smoothie. When you’re ready to serve them, simply pour them into a blender and add your dairy ingredients, then blend!
Classic Formula for the Perfect Smoothie Recipe:
- 1 Cup of Fresh or Frozen Fruit
- 1/2 Cup Liquid – Such as Coconut Milk, Almond Milk, Regular Milk, Water, Orange Juice, or Coconut Water.
- 1/2 Cup Yogurt or Banana – Such as Plain Greek Yogurt, to give it a creamy base.
- Optional Ingredients – Spinach Leaves, Peanut Butter Powder, Nut Butters, Chia Seeds, Oats, or Protein Powder
This method is a starter to a basic smoothie that can be adapted to fit your needs, whether you are feeling tropical or something more classic like Strawberry Banana Smoothie.
Tips for Making the Perfect Smoothie:
- Use Frozen Fruit – This will make a thicker smoothie, plus you won’t have to add ice!
- Freezer Smoothie Packs – Prep smoothie packs in advance so that you can just add the liquid and blend!
- Add Protein Powder – For a boost of protein, add protein powder or a scoop of peanut butter powder.
- Sneak in the Veggies – Veggies such as spinach or avocado don’t have any taste when added to a smoothie, so add them all in!
- Use a High-Quality Blender – Use a blender that is high-quality and has sharp blades.
What blender should you use for Smoothies?
We have tried many blenders over the years and by far our favorite for smoothies is this Ninja Nutri-Blender, it comes with cups and you are going to be blending the smoothie right in the same cup that you can serve it out of. This works perfectly, less dishes for you to clean and so easy for the kids to make their own too!
My daughter uses our Ninja Nutri-Blender almost EVERY morning and has for years, it’s easy enough for the kids to use once they’re old enough with proper adult supervision, of course.
Another great blender is the Blendtec Blender, which is what we used for our green smoothie. This blender can make multiple servings.
Variations of Smoothie Recipes:
Smoothies are completely customizable based on your preference. They can easily be made with non-dairy milk, and the sweetness can also be adjusted with different flavors or add-ins. If you want a nice vanilla touch to your smoothie, add in vanilla extract.
If you want natural sweetness, add in honey, maple syrup, or fresh berries.
